Ditto, new resale shop in Warson Woods.

My good friend Sarah Middendorf sent me that email about a new retail store opening up in Warson Woods. Welcome to the neighborhood Ditto! And thanks Sarah for an early review of that Store.

"I wanted to share with you that a new resale shop opened in our neighborhood between Dollar Tree and Breadsmith called Ditto. I am not sure if they have a website (couldn't find it) but here's their facebook page: http://www.facebook.com/dittostl?ref=ts

They opened today and we went and shopped and it was great! If you would like, it would be great to mention on your blog so we can support local shops.

Ditto supports local Christian schools in St. Louis. It's like going to an upscale Goodwill - very cool.

Thanks,
Sarah"

Volunteers for St. Genevieve du Bois

A message from Tina Dubuque:

"As St. LIborius Social Ministries, a ministry of Ste. Genevieve du Bois, looks forward to celebrating its 25th anniv. of assisting the poor on the north side, we find ourselves at a crossroads.

The next generation of volunteers from our parish is not stepping up to take over the volunteerism of those currently there who want/need a break.

It saddens me that our parishioners are not embracing the wonderful work being done in God's name. One Thursday a month, for about 3 - 4 hours, is all we need.

Perhaps others outside our parish would consider learning about what we do, visiting the pantry, and committing a little time each week or month. Please consider forming a group and contacting us!"

Please let me know if you can help!

The Power of Blogger

I just received a Facebook message from Rebecca Dohrman. We don't know each other but here was the original FB Message:

  • Hi James! My name is Rebecca Dohrman and my family (me, John, and two kids - Noah (3) and Ella (1) just bought a house on Renderer and will be moving to Warson Woods in a few weeks. I just wnated to thank you for the blog you have called I Love Warson Woods. I've found it as I've done google searching about different elements of the neighborhood and I really appreciate the information you've included. It's great promotion for the neighborhood. My husband is a runner so he was particularly excited about the running club. I hope to meet you after we move!"
How exciting was that!!

Rebecca and I have been communicating a bit via Facebook since this original message. Her family will be a great addition to our neighborood. They will be joining the Pool as well, so let's make sure you give them a warm welcome when you happen to bump into them.
